Working in pajamas? Sounds like a dream, right? That pretty much sums up my remote digital marketing adventure at Infinity Wave. It was everything I hoped for and totally different from what I imagined, in the best way. What made it even cooler was being their very first digital marketing intern, which meant I got to help figure out what the role could actually look like.

The SEO deep dive

My main gig was all about SEO and let me tell you, it was way more exciting than it sounds! I spent my days building articles, diving into keyword research, and crafting content that would make Google happy while keeping readers engaged.

But the real adventure started when I got to optimise existing articles. It was like being a detective, analysing what wasn’t working, finding gaps in the content, and figuring out how to make each piece perform better.

The best part? Watching the results come in. There’s nothing quite like seeing an article you optimised climb up the search results or watching traffic numbers grow because of changes you made. One of my proudest achievements was working on content for the FOX website, where my optimisation efforts helped boost impressions from zero to over 1000. Every data point told a story, and I became pretty good at reading those stories, thank to Infinity Wave.

Skills that actually stuck

This internship didn’t just teach me theory, it gave me real SEO skills that I use every day. I learned to research keywords like a pro. Building articles from the ground up taught me how to structure content that both search engines and real people would love.

My writing skills got a serious upgrade too. I learned to write naturally while weaving in keywords seamlessly. Plus, I got to help with social media content on the side by crafting captions and brainstorming fun content ideas. Each platform became its own little writing challenge.

My remote digital marketing adventure reality check

Working from home was amazing. No commute, my own comfortable space, and everything I needed within reach. I loved having my own environment where I could focus without office distractions.

But here’s the truth nobody tells you about remote work: it’s not all Netflix breaks and flexible schedules. Time management became my biggest challenge. Without someone physically checking in, I had to become my own boss. Some days I’d get distracted and find myself scrambling to meet deadlines. I learned to set strict schedules, use productivity apps, and create boundaries between work time and personal time.

The key was treating my home office like a real office, even if it was just my own comfortable bedroom.

A global team experience

One of the interesting parts of working at Infinity Wave was being part of a truly global remote team. The company has workers spread across Southeast Asia and the Middle East, which made for some unique experiences. I got to interact with colleagues from different countries and time zones, though the remote nature meant our interactions were mostly through work channels.

I had the chance to meet some of the Middle East team members during a video call, which was pretty cool. Working with people from different backgrounds taught me how business operates across cultures and gave me insights into different work approaches.

But the biggest surprise came from the CEO himself. Even though he comes from a technical background rather than marketing, he became one of my best teachers. He shared valuable insights about writing and marketing that I never expected to learn from someone outside the industry. It was fascinating to see how someone with a tech mindset approached marketing problems – he brought this logical, systematic way of thinking that really opened my eyes to new strategies.

The learning never stopped

This internship proved that the best education happens when you’re actually doing the work. I absorbed knowledge from every team member, learned from my mistakes, and discovered strengths I didn’t know I had. The combination of hands-on experience and guidance from experienced professionals created the perfect learning environment.

Why this experience matters

My time at Infinity Wave taught me that my remote digital marketing adventure wasn’t just about location flexibility. It’s about building discipline, embracing diversity, and growing both professionally and personally. I gained practical skills, made international connections, and proved to myself that I could thrive in a digital-first work environment.

This internship didn’t just add lines to my resume; it changed how I think about work, creativity, and collaboration. Sometimes the best adventures happen right from your own home. You just need the right team to share them with.
