On 8th of June 2024, I had an amazing time judging at the UTM-IEM innovation competition, UTM Invencmax 4.0, organised by The Institution of Engineers, Malaysia, UTM Student Section (IEM-UTM SS), last Saturday at UTM Skudai. It was a pleasure to join esteemed judges from E&Y, Dyson, Johor Port, Eagle Consulting, Alcon, and SEM Matic Group. I was accompanied by fellow team members from Infinity Wave, Ts Nur Farhana and Ms Alia Natasha.
It is great to see young and aspiring engineers working on their products hands-on! As Malaysia faces a challenge with a lack of interest in STEM fields, events like these can contribute to encouraging the next generation of engineers and innovators, or perhaps an even wider audience from nearby schools.
You know what’s even great? The youngsters behind the event. The committee had so many challenges and obstacles, especially in bringing all the participants from other universities and others to the competition. But they did great. Infinity Wave has been a proponent of innovations!
I personally want to see more engineers pursuing and challenging the status quo, whether in the workplace or as entrepreneurs.
Congratulations to the winners from Asia Pacific University of Technology and Innovation (APU/APIIT) and their mentor, Dr. Nowshath K.Batcha.
It was great to spend my Saturday with all of the fellow judges for UTM Invencmax 4.0, Ms. Arina Kok, Ir. Ts. Uda Sarimin, Ts. Saravanan Krishnan, Ir. Azalea Badrulshah, Ir. Ts. Mohd Husaini Maznudeen, and Ms. Wendy Lee Ween Li. This is the second I am invited, back in 2003 I was one of the judge for UTM Invencmax 3.0.
