The study, Factors Affecting Stakeholder Acceptance of a Malaysian Smart City, looks at what drives Malaysia Smart City acceptance, especially in Kuala Lumpur. Understanding the adoption of Malaysia Smart City helps reveal what citizens and government agencies need from these services. To examine this, researchers created the Malaysia Smart Cities Stakeholders Adoption (MSCSA) model, based on the UTAUT2 theory.

The MSCSA model identifies seven main factors that influence acceptance:

  1. Effort Expectancy (ease of use),
  2. Self-Efficacy (confidence in using tech)
  3. Privacy
  4. Price Value (affordability)
  5. Security
  6. Trust in Government
  7. Trust in Technology

Using these factors, researchers developed nine hypotheses to test how likely people are to adopt smart city services.

To gather insights into Malaysia Smart City acceptance, researchers used a mix of interviews and surveys. The findings showed that privacy, security, trust, and ease of use are key factors. For example, citizens want safe, easy-to-use applications, like e-government services and e-banking, to handle their personal data securely.

Trust in government also plays a big role. When people feel that the government is reliable, they are more likely to adopt smart city services. Cost matters too—affordable services, like mobile government apps, attract more users. Familiarity with tech helps; people who use tools like Google Maps and smart locks are more open to these services.

In conclusion, boosting stakeholders acceptance of smart city adoption in Malaysia means focusing on these seven factors. Building secure, trusted, and affordable services can help make smart cities more appealing and accessible to everyone. But overall, trust in technology is paramount.
